Lessons

My philosophy as a teacher is to help the performer connect the audience to their feelings. For performers to function effectively, they need an effortless technique which leaves them free to concentrate on expression.

I teach harp, both the small or folk/Celtic harp and the large or pedal harp to all levels. I focus on correct position and correct technique so that pain is immediately eliminated and speed and comfort is enhanced.

I teach note-reading as needed, and I can improve fingering so that you can do whatever you are trying to do much more easily. As with voice, the effortless technique you will gain from studying with me frees you to focus on your expression and on your audience.

I teach voice to all ages, provided they are highly motivated and willing to work. I have professional singers and harpists working now in their sixties, and a number of teens and preteens.

I teach legitimate voice to Broadway singers, bel canto to opera singers, and support and style to pop and Celtic singers. My goal as a voice teacher is to build a solid reliable technique first, and show the student how to adapt it to whatever style they wish to sing in.

My students notice rapid improvements in both their speaking voice and their singing voice. Typically, the voice becomes healthier and more powerful, long-term vocal issues such as fatigue, strain or wobble, begin to vanish, and confusion is replaced with confidence.

If you have ever been mystified by voice lessons, confused about what vocal support actually is, or you would like an easier way to do what you love to do, write to me on the contact form and tell me everything.

I prepare professionals for roles, competitors for contests, and college-bound singers for successful auditions. I can coach the vocal student in correct pronunciation in French, German, Italian, Latin, Spanish and Gaelic (Scots or Irish) and in any stage dialect they are likely to need.
